Calling Joan Crawford… A Magnificent Late 30s Black Fur Jacket With Amazing Shoulders and Bakelite

January 29th, 2010 by Admin

The fur for the “it” girl of the 1940’s - skunk. Similar to Colobus monkey in it’s heavy, rough, and shaggy appearance, this fur helps take a structured shoulder pad to the max!

And make no mistake, these shoulder pads are SERIOUS. Puffed sleeves are filled with stiff, very structured pads that extend past the natural shoulder lines. The long fur adds dimension, sewn in cascading ribs all the way down the arm.

The piece closes with a stunning carved Art Deco bakelite clasp of chocolate brown with silver metal accents and hardward. There is a hidden hook and eye at the waist. Made by one of the most famous names in furs, the Hudson Bay Fur Company.

Measurements:
Shoulders (natural) 16″
Bust: 40″
Waist: 43″
Length: 22 1/2″

Condition:
This jacket is in excellent condition. The fur is rich and dense, the skin is supple. The black satin lining is perfect, as is the bakelite clasp. I cannot find a single issue to note!
