Harlow Romance… A 1930s BACKLESS Sheer Pink SILK CHIFFON Halter Evening Gown with Matching Cape

January 29th, 2010 by Admin

This *IS* romance.

The sheerest of sheer pink silk chiffon. The finest 1930s workmanship. Worthy of Harlow at her most glamorous. This amazing piece has a huge, sweeping bias cut skirt and draped neckline. There is triangular details below the waist, and perfect sets of pleats above. The piece is COMPLETELY backless, down-to-there - there’s just the draped halter neck against your skin! It is accented with a stunning purple rayon velvet sash, pleated at the front, and a HUGE bow at the back! It closes with a complex series of snaps and hooks. And best of all, it comes with a matching capelet, completely trimmed in perfectly pleated chiffon. This is a masterpiece.

Bust: Best for 34″ or possibly 35″ - it is difficult to measure without a back! It was a bit large on the 32″ bust model.
Waist: 26 1/2″
Hips: 42″
Length: 57″

This piece is in excellent condition. I found two small pencil-eraser sized brown spots hidden in the folds at the hem of the skirt - there are NO other issues to note. The chiffon is sturdy and entirely wearable.

There are two tabs attached to the halter drape that I couldn’t find a purpose for, so I pinned them into the drape. Also, the original owner added snaps to the interior back of the dress, probably to keep a slip in place. The set does not come with a slip, you’ll have to find your own solution for it!
